Binary is a dual typeface set including blackletter and bitmap. I developed my interest in pixel art when I was a UI designer for a pixel art game years ago and I am inspired by the visual language of digital technology. I started with sketching out different pixelated style typefaces. Then I realized I should have a regular typeface as my reference and just implement all the letters into the pixelated system I designed. I chose fraktur as my starting point because it’s simple, bold, modular. It’s interesting to translate such an ancient typeface into machine language style.
